My Dogs

I believe that life is infinitely more joyful with a dog. I currently live with a Bernedoodle named Hattie (or Harriet when she misbehaves). (2022 – present) Possibly the happiest creature on the earth, Hattie lives for any kind of food  and loves to lean on your legs to tell you she thinks you’re amazing.

Fran (Francis, after the Saint), was a Shetland Sheepdog rescue who came to me when he was at about 7 or 8 years old. (?-2019) I called him a “buddha dog” for how incredibly calm he was. All he wanted in life was to be in the same room as me.

He joined Bella, a Bearded Collie who I raised from a puppy. (2003-2017) Bella suffered from severe anxiety and in her early years felt safest in my basement. I’m happy to say that she eventually found her way upstairs and had a very happy life.

My first girl was Agnes, a rescue from the Humane Society. (1987-2001) She was about 4 months old and of an undetermined breed. That is, until friends and I went to a dog show and saw her doppelgänger, the Briard. In dog heaven, I’m pretty sure that Agnes is in the Saints’ quarters after putting up with my all my personality quirks while I learned how to be a good dog-friend to her.
